History of Christianity (Library)

  • Classes start on February 3, 2013
  • Join our new discussion group which will study the history of our Christian faith.
  • We will use the book Christianity by Roland Bainton.  Dr. Bainton was a professor of church history at Yale and the author of more than a dozen important books. Dr. Bainton wrote the book for readers that are not Christians so it explains Christian terms and concepts.
  • Studying church history helps us answer questions about our faith, it delineates important aspects of our faith, and it gives evidence that the Holy Spirit is working through our church.
  • The book has eleven chapters.   The first three are:
  • Backgrounds of Christianity - The history of Judaism including the influence of Greek culture.
  • The Ministry of Christ - The birth through the resurrection.
  • The Church in an Alien World -  The growth of the church until its adoption by the Roman empire.
  • If you have any questions, contact Gordon Clark (clark.17@osu.edu, 888-1746).
