Ongoing Mission Opportunities

Bread Deliveries

  • Volunteers are needed to deliver bread
  • One Saturday every other month
  • Pick up bread from Giant Eagle on 161/I-71
  • Deliver to Rebecca's Place downtown
  • Time commitment is 1-1/2 hours every other month

Habitat for Humanity

  • WPC has been involved with Habitat for Humanity since 1992
  • Worthington Partnership raises the funds and supplies
  • Volunteers build houses for low income people
  • WPC contributes to building one home per year
  • A Habitat house has the opportunity to build equity with a zero percent interest loan
  • Habitat is not a government program and receives no government funds
  • Volunteers are always needed; a few hours per week/month
  • All skill levels are needed
  • Jobs include framing, insulating, hanging drywall, painting, installing siding, roofing, finish trim, doors, windows, landscaping, etc.

Montana de Luz

  • A home for children with HIV/AIDS in Honduras
  • WPC supports Montana de Luz with funds and volunteers

My Very Own Blanket

  • Provides blankets to children in foster care
  • Make blankets to donate or donate funds and/or supplies

 NNEMAP (Near Northside Emergency Materials Assistance Program)

  • A Columbus agency that operates a food pantry
  • Distributes food to more that 18,000 people each year
  • WPC supports NNEMAP with foods, grooming supplies and cash donations
  • The first and third Wednesdays of each month, members of the church help "break down" food donations

Salem Elementary

  • A nearby elementary school in a disadvataged area
  • Classroom volunteers help in classrooms as directed by the teachers
  • Time commitment varies depending on a schedule you work out with the teacher
  • Christmas Breakfast with Santa volunteers help serve breakfast (one Saturday in December) or wrap presents
  • School Supply Drive: donate school supplies as requested by teachers (August & September)

 
Salem Elementary Summer Lunch Program

  • A nearby elementary school in a disadvantaged area
  • Help serve warm lunches to sudents during the summer
  • Help facilitate fun activities for the kids
  • Time commitment is in the summer, through the week, around lunch time. You can volunteer for one day a week or several
  • Donate fresh fruit and other supplies as needed


Stafford Village Retirement Center

  • A residential facility located at Stafford and Hartford Streets in Worthington
  • Worthington Presbyterian Church's Session elects the Stafford Village Trustees
  • Host birthday parties every other month on the second Saturday at 10:30 a.m.

Other Opportunities

  • Assembling sack lunches for the homeless
  • Delivering goods collected for various mission projects like our Fall Coat Drive, Guadalupe Food Drive, Easter Baskets, etc.
