Have you ever seen a photo of God? Have you ever wondered what God looks like?
Well, I wanted to tell you about something I discovered. I went to a special shop and found pictures of God! I knew I was going to be with you today, so I thought, “Why not buy plenty of these pictures of God so I could share with you?”
I am going to pass these out, but don’t turn them over until we count 1-2-3 and then look at them together. (Each child received a mirror with stickers on the back that say, “What Does God Look Like?”)
Ready? 1-2-3. Open! What does God look like?
That’s right – God looks like YOU. We’re all made in God’s image. So, God looks like us, and we look like God.
You need to look like God here on Earth, and be the person whom God wants you to be. You can do good works in God’s name, and therefore be a picture of God and God’s goodness to other people. This mirror also is special, because if I turn it one way or the other, I see God in others in our church. This church is filled with people who serve God and make a difference in the lives of others. There are lots of pictures of God in this church.
That’s why my husband, Bill, and I love this church. That’s why we support WPC with our generosity. We want to support all the wonderful programs going on here at WPC, which create community, help us all grow in Christ and serve our world.
There are so many pictures of God and acts of serving God in our church! And that’s why we are here – to worship, learn and serve. Bill and I have been members of WPC for over 15 years. I have served the church as an elder, deacon, member of the Missions team, and even worked in the church office for five years.
I want you to keep your mirror to remind you of what God looks like. And I want you to keep your eyes open to look for all the times you can see God in action in our church!
